Our travel philosophy

The way we see it, there's no more better way to travel than on two wheels. Cycling provides the ideal pace to absorb all those changes around, while still covering plenty of ground. It's the best way to meet and hang out with the locals. We're curious about them, and they're generally pretty curious about us and our dusty (but rather exotic) wheels. In the developing world, tourism brings impact and change, and we're very aware that travelling here and organising trips like these is part of it all. But we reckon it can be done in a positive way and whenever we can, we try and contribute to the local economy directly. On top of all this, there's the soul satisfying rewards of reaching your destination on your own steam, and keeping fit and healthy in the process. Having travelled around the world independently on our bikes, we want to maintain that same balance on 'organised' tours.

Whilst we offer both self-supported and supported trips, we try and make them both as low impact as possible. Our jeep backed tours are community based and we work with local people we've met over the years. We make use of a jeep to carry our luggage and get to places that would otherwise would be tricky to reach - but we're self-sufficient throught the day. While the self-supported rides are even more of a physical challenge, we feel they offer that extra sense of adventure and achievement. All the tours are about getting stuck in together - we pitch our own tents and everything is shared out between us.

Prayer flag at LickjeWe do want to emphasize that our trips are very much grass rootsy affairs - the best way we think of getting a real feel for the area. We won't be travelling around in a luxury bubble but we will stay in clean, family run guesthouses, with ensuite bathrooms where possible - even if they are a little basic at times. We'll eat locally and source what food we can from the region to support the local economy. We'll purify or boil all our water to minimise on waste - this is really important, as there's no recycling in India and too much rubbish is burnt, or just slung out. Thoroughly tried and tested, we're particularly proud of our camping spots, and can definitely guarantee some memorable star filled nights and morning vistas.
